What a website costs in Egypt depends mostly on the type of site. A company profile is far simpler than a site with appointment booking, online payments or an admin panel with user roles. Clutch's web development pricing guide, updated September 2026, shows most reviewed projects come in under $10,000, with the most common rate at $25–$49 an hour.
How much does each type of website cost?
You can't price a website until you know what it has to do for visitors. The table orders common site types from simplest to most complex and shows what raises the price within each. If you're not sure which type fits your business, start with types of websites for business.
| Site type | Usually includes | What raises the price |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page for a campaign or product | One page, contact form, WhatsApp button, analytics setup | Fully custom design, multiple variants for ad testing |
| Company website | Services, about and contact pages, a panel to edit text and images | Two languages, a blog, a large catalog, copywriting and product photography |
| Booking or ordering site | Booking form with available slots, notifications, a panel to manage bookings | Prepayment, multiple branches or providers, reminder messages |
| Online store | Products, cart, payments, shipping, order and stock management | Product count and variants, shipping and warehouse integration, a mobile app |
| Custom web platform | User accounts with roles, workflows and reports specific to your business | Integration with other systems, complex permissions, data volume |
Online stores carry extra line items such as payment commissions and shipping, covered in the cost of building an online store in Egypt.

Why do global average prices look so high?
The same Clutch guide puts the average web development project at about $66,499 over a typical 9 months, even though most projects are under $10,000. A small number of very large platforms drag the average up, and the data is global and in dollars. The number that matters is how many hours your own scope needs, and any serious quote should show that line by line.
Why does a freelancer cost less than an agency or a site builder?
Each option comes with different responsibilities. The gap isn't only about writing code; it's about who carries continuity, support, the contract and the invoice.
| Criterion | Site builder (DIY) | Freelancer | Development company |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | Lowest, plus an ongoing subscription | Usually moderate | Usually higher |
| Customization | Limited to what the platform allows | Depends on one person's skills and time | Design, development and testing by several specialists |
| Continuity | Tied to keeping the subscription | Stalls if the developer gets busy or drops out | More than one person knows the project |
| Contract and invoice | Platform terms and billing | Varies, so ask about both upfront | Written contract and tax invoice |
What are the yearly costs after launch?
You pay for the build once, but a website has recurring running costs that belong in the budget from day one:
- Domain name: renewed yearly; the price depends on the extension (.com or .com.eg) and the registrar.
- Hosting: from basic shared hosting to a cloud server. DigitalOcean's basic droplets, for example, start at $4 a month, and a site with an admin panel and database usually needs something larger.
- SSL certificate: available free through Let's Encrypt on most hosts, so don't accept a large line item for it.
- Company email: usually a separate per-user subscription.
- Maintenance and backups: security updates for the framework or plugins, and backups stored off the server.
- Payment fees, if you take payments: for example 2.75% + EGP 3 per transaction on Paymob.
Is paying more for site speed worth it?
Snaabble provides a tailored technical assessment to define the right stack & exact budget.
Usually, yes. Your audience in Egypt is overwhelmingly connected by phone: DataReportal's Digital 2026: Egypt report counts 98.2 million internet users (82.7% of the population) and 121 million mobile connections. Google data published in February 2018 found that as page load time goes from one second to ten, the probability of a mobile visitor bouncing rises 123%.
So ask the agency to commit to Google's Core Web Vitals thresholds: Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint of 200 milliseconds or less, and Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.1 or less, measured at the 75th percentile of page loads on mobile and desktop.
What should be in your name, not the agency's?
- The domain, with you as the registrant and login access to the registrar account.
- The hosting or server account, billed to your company.
- Google Search Console, Google Analytics and your Google Business Profile.
- The source code in a repository you own, plus full admin access to the site's dashboard.
- The merchant account with your payment gateway, if the site takes payments.
How do you get quotes you can actually compare?
Send every agency the same brief, so you're comparing one scope at different prices rather than different scopes:
- The pages you need and the languages (Arabic only, or Arabic and English).
- Who writes the copy and supplies the images.
- Integrations: WhatsApp, booking, payments, shipping, internal systems.
- What you want to edit yourself from the dashboard.
- Basic SEO requirements, and redirects from your old site if there is one.
- Post-launch support: how long it lasts and what it covers.
- A payment schedule in EGP tied to milestones, with any USD-priced items listed separately, especially since the exchange rate was floated on 6 March 2024.

Frequently asked questions
Is WordPress cheaper than a custom-built website?
Often at the start, especially for company sites and blogs, because the admin panel and themes already exist. But a stack of plugins needs ongoing security updates, and very specific requirements can make custom development simpler over time. Decide based on what the site has to do, not the upfront price alone.
How long does a company website take?
It depends on the number of pages, how ready your content is and how quickly you approve designs. Have your copy, photos and contact details ready before kickoff, because the design is built around them.
Does the price include copywriting and SEO?
Not always. Some quotes cover only technical SEO setup (titles, descriptions, sitemap, speed), while copywriting and keyword planning are a separate service. Ask for this to be written into the quote.
How do I stop the price from growing mid-project?
Agree a scope document listing pages, features and deliverables before signing, plus a written change-request process: anything outside scope is priced and approved in writing before work starts.
Do I need the site in both Arabic and English?
If your customers or partners are in the Gulf or outside Egypt, probably yes. The second language isn't just translation: it needs RTL and LTR layouts, content suited to each audience, and SEO settings per language.
