There's no fixed price for a mobile app in Egypt. The cost depends on how many user roles, features and integrations (payments, maps, OTP messages) you need. Clutch's app pricing guide, updated September 2026, puts most reviewed app projects between $10,000 and $49,999, and Egypt-based agencies listed on Clutch most often bill $25–$49 an hour.
What actually drives the cost of a mobile app?
A quote is essentially hours multiplied by the team's rate, and the hours come from scope, not screen count. A catalog app with a login is far simpler than a delivery app that needs a customer app, a courier app, an admin dashboard and live map tracking. These are the factors that really move the price, with the question to ask about each one.
| Factor | Why it adds cost | What to ask the agency |
|---|---|---|
| User roles and apps | Every role (customer, courier, merchant, admin) adds screens, permissions and testing | How many apps and dashboards does this quote cover? |
| Backend and admin panel | Most business apps need a server, a database and a web panel to manage orders and content | Is the admin panel included or priced separately? |
| Integrations | Payment gateway, maps, OTP, push notifications, accounting or inventory sync | Which integrations are included, and who pays their monthly fees? |
| iOS and Android | Cross-platform frameworks such as Flutter ship both from one codebase; fully native means separate work per platform | Which stack do you recommend, and why for my project? |
| UI/UX design | Custom design with a clickable prototype takes longer than a template | Will I approve an interactive prototype before coding starts? |
| Arabic and English | RTL layouts and Arabic text testing on every screen is real extra work | Is the Arabic interface tested on physical devices? |
| Offline mode | A sales rep logging orders in low-coverage areas needs local storage, sync and conflict handling | How does the app behave when the connection drops? |
How much does an app cost at each complexity level?
The most current published benchmark is Clutch's app development pricing guide (updated 12 September 2026), built from verified client reviews. The average project costs about $90,780 over a typical 11 months, but the most common bracket is $10,000–$49,999. A handful of large projects pull the average up, and these are global USD figures, not an Egyptian price list. Use them for scale, then compare itemized quotes.
| Level | Examples | Usually includes | What multiplies the effort |
|---|---|---|---|
| MVP | Service catalog, simple booking, a shop's customer app | Login, content, ordering or booking, basic admin panel | Adding online payments or two languages from day one |
| Mid-complexity | Delivery, bookings with service providers, service marketplace | Two or more apps (customer and provider), payments, notifications, maps | Live tracking, ratings, in-app wallet |
| Full platform | Field sales and distribution, multi-vendor, ERP integration | Several apps, complex permissions, reporting, integration with internal systems | Offline mode, multiple branches and warehouses |
A mid-complexity example from our portfolio is CraftLink, a platform that connects customers with craftsmen: browsing by specialty, craftsman profiles with ratings and past work, a three-step service request with live tracking, and a dashboard for the craftsman. It has a live demo you can try.
Which fixed fees do you pay on top of development?
Beyond the development fee, you'll pay third parties, some of them in US dollars. The figures below are published on official pages as of September 2026 and can change, so check the link before you put them in a budget.
| Item | Published fee | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Developer Program | $99 per year | Companies need a D-U-N-S Number registered to the legal entity, which is free to obtain |
| Google Play Console | $25 one-time | Organization accounts require a D-U-N-S number and verified contact details |
| Payment gateway (e.g. Paymob) | 2.75% + EGP 3 per transaction, no monthly fee | Supports cards, mobile wallets, installments, Aman and Masary kiosks, and cash on delivery |
| Google Maps Platform | Free monthly calls per SKU (10,000 for Essentials) since March 2025 | Tracking-heavy apps can exceed the free tier |
| WhatsApp messages (OTP, notifications) | Per-message pricing for templates since 1 July 2025 | Marketing and authentication templates are charged; from 1 October 2026 service messages are charged too, after the first 1,000 per business phone number each month |
| Cloud hosting | DigitalOcean basic droplets start at $4 a month | An app with real users usually needs a larger server plus backups |
Do Apple and Google take a cut of my app's sales?
It depends on what you sell. If your app sells physical goods or services used outside the app, such as food, clothing, clinic bookings or delivery, Apple's review guidelines and Google Play's payments policy require a payment method other than in-app purchase. In practice that means a gateway like Paymob, and no store commission on those orders.
Digital content (subscriptions, in-app courses, game currency) goes through in-app purchase. Apple's Small Business Program charges 15% for developers new to the App Store and those under $1 million in prior-year proceeds. Google Play charges 15% on subscriptions in markets outside the EEA, UK and US, and 15% or less on other digital purchases depending on program eligibility. That difference changes your business model, so settle it before you choose how the app makes money.
Why should your quote separate EGP from USD?
Since the Central Bank of Egypt let market forces set the exchange rate on 6 March 2024, any line item priced in dollars can move by the time you pay it. Store fees, hosting, maps and messaging are usually billed in USD, while development can be agreed in Egyptian pounds. Ask for a quote that separates:
Snaabble provides a tailored technical assessment to define the right stack & exact budget.
- Development fees, fixed and tied to delivery milestones.
- Pass-through costs (Apple, Google, hosting, messaging), paid directly from your company card.
- Monthly or annual maintenance, with exactly what it covers.
How can you cut app costs without cutting quality?
The biggest saving comes from a smaller first release, not the cheapest quote. Build the path where customers order or pay first, and hold everything else until you see real usage.
- List every feature and sort it into "can't launch without" and "can wait".
- Approve a clickable design prototype before coding; changing a screen in design is cheaper than changing it after it's built.
- Start cross-platform unless you have specific performance or hardware needs.
- Use existing services for push notifications and messaging instead of building them.
- Tie payments to milestones you can test yourself on your own phone.

What should be in your company's name before launch?
The app is a business asset, so register the core accounts in your company's name from the start rather than trying to transfer them later:
- Apple Developer and Google Play accounts under the legal entity, with its D-U-N-S number.
- The source code repository (GitHub or GitLab) with owner access.
- The cloud hosting and database accounts.
- The merchant account with your payment gateway, so settlements reach your own bank account.
- Supporting services such as Firebase and Google Maps, billed to the company card.
Make sure the contract requires handover of code, design files and credentials as each milestone is paid.
Frequently asked questions
Can I build a mobile app on a small budget?
Yes, if the scope is genuinely small: one cross-platform codebase, a single user role and no complex integrations. Another option is a progressive web app (PWA) that runs in the browser without store publishing, with limits on some phone features.
How long does it take to build an app?
It depends on scope and how quickly you approve design and content. The typical timeline for projects reviewed on Clutch is about 11 months, but that includes large platforms; a tightly scoped MVP is usually shorter.
What does an app cost to maintain after launch?
Hosting and third-party services, updates for new iOS and Android versions, bug fixes and small feature additions. The line items and how to budget for them are in our mobile app maintenance cost guide.
Do I need a web admin panel with the app?
For most business apps, yes. It's where you add products and manage orders and users without calling a developer for every change. Make sure the quote spells out the panel's permissions and reports.
Why do quotes for the same idea vary so much?
Because each agency assumes a different scope: number of screens, whether there's an admin panel, how much testing, and what support follows launch. Ask for itemized hours per phase and compare what each quote includes, not just the final number.
